Just over a year ago…

I asked a girl, by the name of Jessica, out. It was our first official date and it pretty much encompassed everything that our relationship stood for. Here’s how it went…

Our first date

Now I know I’ve written about how much I love this woman, and how much she means to me, but at the time I had no idea just how much. Back then we were still very nervous of one another. We had both been through the wringer and done some rather questionable things. However, we decided to put all that aside and try our hand at this thing like for realz.

The plan for the night was to get all fancied up, head to M.F. Sushi, then to Flip Flops. Dinner was perfect. Jess had never eaten sushi in “the big city” and she’ll tell you right away, that city sushi trumps the Griffin stuff any day. After dinner we head out the car and BLAM! I notice there is glass all over the ground and instead of a passenger window I have a hole. In addition to the window being gone, so is my GPS. We assessed the situation, hit up some of Atlanta’s Finest, and an hour or so later were on our way with a “you know you really shouldn’t park here with electronics in plain site, have a good night”. Woot! Thanks for the head’s up officer lady ma’am.

Rather than drive around with the wind and glass blowing through our hair, we decided to stop by the office and get a trash bag to cover the window. As it turns out, that was a pretty good idea. We got to see the city from 17 floors up in the Centennial Tower. It was a clear night and you could see all the lights and the night was turning out to be pretty amazing.

We still had the itch to dance, so we headed down to Flip Flops. Neither of us had been there and didn’t really know what to expect. As it turns out this was the perfect place for us. It was a cheap cover, strong cheap drinks, and loud dancin’ type music. By the end of the night we were on top of a table dancing around like a bunch of fools owning that place. We eventually decided to roll outta there and hit up some Waffle House. After all, there really is no better place in America than a Waffle House at 4am.

So that was that. A night where not everything went according to plan, we got broken into, but it lead to something better. We didn’t know what to expect, but also didn’t want to expect anything other than having a good time. A year later and we’re not nearly as broken but we’re still expecting to have a good time. I love this woman more than the day before and will keep on loving here. This date was the catalyst for our amazing relationship and I can’t wait to have many more amazing date nights.
